plastICS and Dr Karen Raubenheimer

Updated: Mar 10, 2018

The plastICS team is working with Dr Karen Raubenheimer to help educate the community about

When our team started our journey to educate, reduce and recycle, we approached Dr Karen Raubenheimer from ANCORS at the University of Wollongong. Karen has been amazing!! She has worked with us throughout our project while juggling her commitments to ANCORS and to UNEP (United Nations Environment Program).

“ Although the plastic debris problem presents in the oceans, the failure to control land-based plastic waste is the primary cause of these marine environmental impacts. ”

We are so thankful to Karen for spending time with us to help us to really understand the issues of soft-plastic pollution and in her efforts to support us along our journey.

We have been encouraged to continue in our pursuits to help communities make informed decisions about their use and disposal of soft plastics.

We hope you will also understand that plastic in and of itself is not bad. It is how we use it and what we do with it at the end of its life that counts.
